SLTN Restaurant of the Year
Sponsored by Bunnahabhain Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the award for the Restaurant of the Year was presented at the Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards, recently held at the Glasgow Hilton.
The SLTN Restaurant of the Year Award went to the restaurant that demonstrated the highest quality of food and service together with a comprehensive malt whisky offering. The category was split into two divisions:
In the £35 and over division, the nominations were: Castle Terrace Restaurant, Edinburgh and Knockinaam Lodge, Dumfries and Galloway. The winner was Castle Terrace Restaurant.
In the £35 and under division, the nominations were: The Wedgwood, Edinburgh and Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery, Glasgow. The winner in this category was The Wedgwood.
The judges were looking for absolute commitment to preparation of high quality food, with consistently high standards of service, reflecting investment in staff training. A comprehensive and relevant drinks range was required, including an appropriate selection of malt whiskies – and staff with the knowledge and confidence to make recommendations.
The standard of entries was exceedingly high this year, which made the final decision very difficult to reach. Congratulations to both winners.
