Pronounced {Bu-nah-hav- en} meaning mouth of the river. Inspired by our location at the mouth of the Margadale stream, situated at the end of a small single track road, on the shores of the Sound of Islay. Bunnahabhain is known for its spectacular surroundings and delicious signature unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky.

At Bunnahabhain, we are uncompromising in our dedication to quality. Our Distillery Manager, Andrew Brown, and craftsmen bring decades of experience and expertise to the table, meticulously overseeing each step of the whisky-making process. From mashing and fermentation to distillation and maturation, every stage is handled with precision and care by the Bunnahabhain team.

Rigourous Standards

We adhere to the highest standards of production, ensuring that every bottle of Bunnahabhain meets our exacting criteria. Our distillation process is characterised by the use of large stills, the tallest on the island, which produce a lighter, more delicate spirit. This spirit is then aged in carefully selected oak casks, allowing it to develop its distinctive character over time.

Sustainable Practices 

Our commitment to quality extends to our environmental practices. We are dedicated to sustainable production methods, minimizing our environmental impact, and preserving the natural beauty of Islay. We are the first Net Zero Distiller on Islay. Our state of the art BIO MASS Saves 5500 tonnes of carbon emissions p/a: 95% saving over oil, equivalent to removing all road vehicles from Islay and Jura. This unwavering commitment to sustainability ensures that future generations can continue to enjoy the exceptional quality of Bunnahabhain whisky.
