Maturation Warehouse: 2013 Oloroso Hogshead
The maturation warehouse is one of our newest visitor experiences at the distillery, exploring in depth, the maturation process and the effect a sherry cask has on our unpeated spirit at different ages.
Distilled on the 16th January, 2013, this whisky has been maturing in a Oloroso hogshead in our coastal warehouse 9 until bottled by the team to share with you.

Age: 6 year old
With a high abv of 60.2% vol, this dram packs a punch with sharp star anise, liquorice and awakening coffee. The sharpness is balanced by sweet treacle, fruit cake and chocolate flavours ending with a robust finish.

These are single cask bottlings, limited in number, selected by our Master Blender and our visitor team. Once the cask is emptied, it is unfortunately never to be repeated.
Please note, this whisky is hand filled by our visitor team straight from the cask. As the whisky is not filtered, you might find particles in the liquid, which are entirely natural from the whisky maturation process and the cask, e.g. pieces of charcoal from the charring of the cask.
The whisky is sold as is and no refunds will be given as a result of this process. In addition, we will not be responsible should the whisky be held in customs.
An ethanol sharpness due to the high ABV. Treacle/molasses with chocolate orange. Tar/bitumen, worn leather balanced with caramel and hints of citrus zest.
Liquorice, star anise giving a tart/sharpness. Coffees - sharp, awakening and vibrant. Hot chocolate, spices - cinnamon, bergamot, black truffle, sweet oiliness, caramel and toffee sweetness.
Syrup-like dark/maple syrup thickness. Leather, cumin, earthy dryness, dark chocolate, caramels, toffees, salted caramel, sweet fruit cake and spice – like clootie dumpling. A more robust aftertaste.
