ABOUT

An Cuan Garbh {An Coo-ann Gaa-riv}, meaning “the rough seas” in Scots Gaelic, marks the second chapter in our Westering Home Collection - a journey shaped not by departure, but by endurance. Where the first chapter of Turas Math began with preparation, this release reflects the crossing itself: a passage defined by challenge, transformation, and discovery. The spirit evolves as it rests beside the Sound of Islay — shaped by oak, sea air, and time. Layers of orchard fruit and soft citrus unfold into honeyed depth and gentle spice, capturing the balance between resilience and reward. Like the voyage it represents, An Cuan Garbh is a testament to patience and craft — where each moment of maturation brings greater complexity, and every element works in quiet harmony to guide the spirit home.

MATURATION JOURNEY

Finished in white port casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley, it carries the richness of distant shores and the reward of the journey’s end. Waves of orchard fruit, peach, and apricot break against bright notes of candied citrus, before easing into smooth layers of honeyed almonds, toasted malt, and gentle spice.

UNPEATED ISLAY

UNPEATED ISLAY

Unlike other distilleries on Islay, Bunnahabhain is known for its iconic, unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky.

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

Situated on the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly distillery, only accessible by boat until 1960. Now by single track road, it is an adventure for whisky enthusiasts.

TALLEST ON ISLAY

TALLEST ON ISLAY

Bunnahabhain's pear-shaped stills are the tallest on Islay. Their unusually long swan necks promote a lighter, delicate spirit character as heavier flavour compounds can't reach the summit.

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

Non-chill filtered with no added colour, Bunnahabhain is a robust, oily spirit that stands up to full maturation in sherry and bottlings at Cask Strength.
