ABOUT

An Cuan Garbh {An Coo-ann Gaa-riv}, meaning “the rough seas” in Scots Gaelic, forms the second chapter in our Westering Home Collection - a chapter shaped by the journey itself. Beyond the optimism of departure lies the crossing: restless waters, shifting skies, and the quiet endurance required to continue onward. Resting beside the Sound of Islay, the spirit evolves slowly over time, influenced by sea air, oak and the rhythm of maturation. Layers of orchard fruit, warming spice and coastal salinity emerge in balance, reflecting both the challenge and beauty of the voyage home. Like the seas that inspired it, An Cuan Garbh No.2 is a whisky shaped by patience, resilience and the transformative passage of time.

MATURATION JOURNEY

Initially matured in second fill bourbon barrels, this expression was later transferred into hand-selected Fino sherry hogsheads for a finishing period of 27 months. Chosen for its distinctive dry and elegant character, Fino sherry brings clarity and brightness to the spirit while amplifying Bunnahabhain’s naturally coastal style. The result is a whisky of precision and balance, where freshness, texture and coastal influence move together in quiet harmony.

WHERE UNIQUE MEETS EXCEPTIONAL

UNPEATED ISLAY

UNPEATED ISLAY

Unlike other distilleries on Islay, Bunnahabhain is known for its iconic, unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky.

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

Situated on the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly distillery, only accessible by boat until 1960. Now by single track road, it is an adventure for whisky enthusiasts.

TALLEST ON ISLAY

TALLEST ON ISLAY

Bunnahabhain's pear-shaped stills are the tallest on Islay. Their unusually long swan necks promote a lighter, delicate spirit character as heavier flavour compounds can't reach the summit.

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

Non-chill filtered with no added colour, Bunnahabhain is a robust, oily spirit that stands up to full maturation in sherry and bottlings at cask strength.
