ABOUT

Crafted exclusively for those in our community, The Coterie Exclusive is a whisky shaped by patience, precision and thoughtful cask selection. Matured for 17 years, this expression explores the interplay between two distinctive wine cask finishes: White Port and Moscatel. Together, these whiskies create a single malt that is both layered and balanced, where sweetness is never overpowering, and elegance remains at the forefront. Beneath it all, Bunnahabhain’s signature unpeated, coastal character endures, providing structure and clarity throughout. Crafted in limited quantities and reserved for our community, this is a whisky that rewards time, attention and shared appreciation.

MATURATION JOURNEY

Matured for 17 years, this expression begins its journey in refill casks, allowing the spirit to develop while preserving Bunnahabhain’s naturally unpeated and maritime character.  From there, a significant portion was finished in Moscatel wine casks for 9.5 years, building depth, richness and aromatic intensity over time. A further parcel is finished in White Port casks for 15 months, introducing brightness, freshness and balance.  The result is a carefully composed single malt, where each cask influence plays a distinct role - layering sweetness, structure and lift while allowing the distillery’s character to remain clearly defined.

TASTE

Soft orchard fruits and citrus brightness open the way, unfolding into layers of honeyed sweetness, dried apricot and gentle spice. There’s a quiet richness beneath it all - rounded, warming and textured - lifted by a subtle coastal freshness that carries through to a long, elegant finish.

Together, the White Port and Moscatel cask finishes create a whisky that is sweet and layered, yet still lifted and elegant. Throughout, the refill cask foundation ensures the distillery's character remains clearly visible beneath the influence of the wine casks.

WHERE UNIQUE MEETS EXCEPTIONAL

UNPEATED ISLAY

UNPEATED ISLAY

Unlike other distilleries on Islay, Bunnahabhain is known for its iconic, unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky.

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

Situated on the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly distillery, only accessible by boat until 1960. Now by single track road, it is an adventure for whisky enthusiasts.

TALLEST ON ISLAY

TALLEST ON ISLAY

Bunnahabhain's pear-shaped stills are the tallest on Islay. Their unusually long swan necks promote a lighter, delicate spirit character as heavier flavour compounds can't reach the summit.

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

Non-chill filtered with no added colour, Bunnahabhain is a robust, oily spirit that stands up to full maturation in sherry and bottlings at cask strength.

Phenomenal

"One of the best whiskies I've ever had. Shared with family and we all agreed this is a very special bottle. Bought 4 more"

— Matt (5/5)

Beautiful nose!

"You will definitely enjoy the nose. The taste is always good, as we are used to it. Ain’t a bad idea to add a few waterdrops. Wished they had given it 3 or 5 years to become a Bunna in perfection."

— David S. (4/5)

Coterie 17 year exclusive

"This is a beautiful bottle- the cask influence is strong but well-integrated. The tasting notes on the site are pretty accurate too. A lovely contrast to my other bottles of Bunnahabhain, which are all sherry of one form or another. I think the price for the age and quality of presentation is fairly decent too compared to other similar Bunna releases. Happy with my purchase."

— Phillip N. (5/5)

Super delicious whisky

"Another super delicious whisky from Bunnahabhain. I enjoy every dram!!!"

— Harald K. (5/5)

A stunning dram

"Wow, what a lovely Whisky. The sweetness of the casks and the alcohol are perfectly balanced. However, the typical Bunnahabhain taste (I particularly love the Bunna 18) took a back seat."

— Martin S. (5/5)

Leckerer Whisky -

"Der Whisky war für mich ein Muss, da hier mit Moscatell Fässern und White Port Fässern gearbeitet wurde. Mir hat der Whisky sehr gut geschmeckt. Helle Früchte wie Pfirsich konnte ich schmecken. Klare Empfehlung"

— Manfred H. (5/5)
