ABOUT

Bàgh Garbh {Baah GAR-uv} - meaning ‘Rugged Bay’ in Scots Gaelic - takes its name from one of Islay’s most elemental landscapes. A place where the Atlantic does not arrive gently, but with force - shaping the shoreline, carving the rock, and leaving its imprint on everything it touches. There is a raw honesty to this bay. Windswept, weathered, and ever-changing, it embodies a kind of enduring strength that cannot be rushed or refined away. It is this character that defines the spirit of Bàgh Garbh.

MATURATION JOURNEY

Matured for 13 years and finished in Amontillado sherry casks, this expression reflects both resilience and depth. The cask influence brings warmth and structure - layers of dried fruit, nuttiness and spice - while the distillery’s coastal signature remains ever-present, like sea air carried on the wind. This is a whisky shaped by contrast: rugged yet composed, powerful yet balanced.

TASTE

A deep, warming richness unfolds - treacle toffee and spiced orange wrapped in the quiet strength of dried fruits and oak. There’s a subtle salt-laced edge that lingers beneath it all, grounding the sweetness with a sense of place, before giving way to a long, gently spiced finish that feels both comforting and enduring.

Matured for over a decade in our coastal warehouses. Finished in select Amontillado sherry casks, it delivers a rugged flavour profile - dry and nutty with notes of toasted almond, sea-kissed oak, and a firm, structured body.

UNPEATED ISLAY

UNPEATED ISLAY

Unlike other distilleries on Islay, Bunnahabhain is known for its iconic, unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky.

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

Situated on the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly distillery, only accessible by boat until 1960. Now by single track road, it is an adventure for whisky enthusiasts.

TALLEST ON ISLAY

TALLEST ON ISLAY

Bunnahabhain's pear-shaped stills are the tallest on Islay. Their unusually long swan necks promote a lighter, delicate spirit character as heavier flavour compounds can't reach the summit.

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

UNCOMPROMISING SPIRIT

Non-chill filtered with no added colour, Bunnahabhain is a robust, oily spirit that stands up to full maturation in sherry and bottlings at cask strength.
