What defines a cask strength whisky?
Cask strength whisky is bottled directly from the cask without dilution, retaining its natural ABV and full flavour intensity exactly as it matures in our coastal warehouses.
How does Bunnahabhain select casks for cask strength releases?
We choose casks that show exceptional depth and balance at higher strength, often from rich sherry casks or standout cask types that reveal bold flavours when bottled naturally.
What ABV can I expect from these releases?
Most cask strength expressions sit between 55% and 60% ABV, though this varies with age, cask type and evaporation during maturation.
What is a cask finished whisky?
A cask finished whisky is matured in one type of barrel and then transferred to another cask for a final period of ageing. This finishing stage adds additional layers of flavour and complexity.
